Special Note on Fall Sports Spectators

Special Note on Fall Sports Spectators

From the Office of Bobby Godinez, ELAC Athletic Director

As has been the case throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, East Los Angeles College Athletics has been working in step with college officials, LACCD, LA County and California state guidelines regarding social distancing. As is always the case, we want to ensure the safest environment possible for our student-athletes as well as our coaches and staff.

To that end, we announce the following measures regarding fan & spectator attendance for our fall sports. These measures are currently for the start of the fall season, and will be reviewed and updated frequently:
  • Spectators for outdoor sports ARE currently allowed for fall. This includes football, men and women's soccer. These games are played in Weingart Stadium which has plenty of seating space to ensure social distancing of all attendees.
    • To limit crowd bunching and to ensure proper spacing, there will be foot traffic control measures in place upon entry into the stadium promenade.
      • To this end, unfortunately there will be no food vendors available during football games this season. Fans are encouraged to bring outside food with them into the stadium.
  • Spectators for indoor sports are currently NOT allowed for fall. This includes women's volleyball, wrestling, and water polo.
    • In lieu of spectators, we will have live streaming for these sports, including play-by-play for women's volleyball. Details on where to watch these games will be posted on our website as well as our social media outlets (Twitter/Facebook/IG)
    • This measure will be re-evaluated upon the start of men and women's basketball seasons.

Please stay tuned to our website as well as our Twitter and Facebook account for updates.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look to you for your continued support of our programs and student-athletes.
