MONTEREY PARK, CA -- The East Los Angeles College Huskies softball team has only won one of five games against the Santa Ana College Dons in since 2013.

Make that two.

The Huskies scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and squashed a Santa Ana rally that tied the game 3-3 in the top of the inning.

Winning sophomore pitcher Samantha Alvarado (Edgewood HS) retired the side in the top of the seventh and the Huskies won a 13-hit, 6-3 victory.

Freshman pitcher Majisty Shomo (Alhambra / Century High School) opened with three solid innings, which ELAC’s offense did not take advantage of in the scoreless first three innings.

Both offenses got things going in the fourth. Santa Ana scored a run in the top of the inning and ELAC answered with three runs in the bottom half. ELAC led 3-1 after four.

The Dons sored a run in each of the fifth and sixth inning and tied it 3-3 after six. The Huskies’ fireworks in the sixth gave ELAC its second win in three years against Santa Ana.
