ELAC women’s soccer begins another streak

LONG BEACH, CA — A new East Los Angeles College women’s soccer team streak begins. The Huskies (1-8-5) played Long Beach City College (7-4-6) to a 1-1 draw today.

Last Friday the Huskies’ three-game unbeaten streak ended last with a 1-0 loss to El Camino College.

ELAC continues its third straight non-conference divisional crossover game on Friday, Oct. 21 when it hosts Los Angeles Harbor College (7-5-2) at 2 p.m.

Long Beach outshot ELAC 15-10 in the scoreless draw. Sophomore defender Kremlin Perez (Paramount HS) and freshman midfielder Stephanie Galvan (El Rancho HS) each took three shots for the Huskies.

Freshman attacker Vanessa Marin (Downey HS) took two shots for ELAC.

Freshman midfielder Marina Smith (South El Monte HS) and sophomore midfielder Stephanie Rojas (Compton HS) each took one shot for ELAC.

ELAC took four shots on goal, three in the second half. Four Huskies each had a shot on goal, Perez, Rojas, Smith and Galvan. The Vikings took five corner shots, each cleared by the Huskies.

ELAC sophomore goalkeeper Penelope Roman (La Serna HS) saved eight Long Beach shots on goal to preserve the tie.

Roman’s saves ELAC opponent shot on goal attempts at a .836 percent clip, 19th best in the state, Roman has three shut outs this season, 25 best in the state.
