WALNUT, Calif. --- East Los Angeles College defeated Fullerton College by 47 points for 6th place at the 30th Annual Mt. San Antonio College Swimming and Diving Invitational on Feb. 19-21.

Powerhouse Sierra College of Rocklin, Calif. won the women's title, with second place going Pasadena City College.

The Huskies upset Los Angeles Valley College and also defeated South Coast Conference rivals Chaffey, Long Beach City and Los Angeles Trade Tech College.

Returning All-American sophomores Alice Fei Zhang and Wenning Shen Scored 150 of ELAC's 186 individual points with first place wins in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes.

Each swam 2015 personal records, Zhang in the 100 breast and Shen in the 100 back.

Zhang also had two second place finishes in the 100 Fly and the 1650 Free.

Shen took second place in the 50-yard back and ninth in the 500 Free.

Sophomore Beisi Li clocked two personal records in the 200 and 100 breast, scoring in both events.

"It's been a while since I've trained in swimming.  My times can improve a lot" said Li.  "it's nice to return to ELAC swimming, the team is much faster."

ELAC added 126 points in the relays with their best finish coming in fourth place in the 200 medley finals.

"We are improved overall," said ELAC Head Coach Erik Matheson.  "Ashley Cortez is a couple of dives away from competing in the 1-Meter and 3-Meter dives."

Cortez will be the first women's diver to compete in both diving events for ELAC since swimming returned in 2012 after an 11-year layoff. is the official East Los Angeles College athletics website.
