Facing a damaging upset loss to a 7-10 West LA team, the Huskies found their footing at just the right time to put away their crosstown opponent. The game was a makeup of the December 27th match-up that was postponed due to Covid restrictions.

Both men and women's basketball began SCC-North conference play this week. The women netted wins road over Rio Hondo and LA Trade Tech, while the men had their game at Rio postponed, but defeated Tech to push their current winning streak to seven.

After 22 months, the East LA College women's basketball team finally returned to their home court to hit the hardwood. They were victorious in their home debut, beating the #3-ranked College of the Canyons 83-65.

The Okawa Classic made its successful return to Monterey Park, but not without one substantial hiccup. West LA College was unable to travel across town due to Covid concerns, which left ELAC without a Day 1 opponent.

Defense has been the anchor of head coach Bruce Turner's tenure with ELAC women's basketball, and tonight was no exception. In Day Two of the Lady Chargers Tournament, the Huskies defense wrecked havoc on Grossmont's offensive sets, with missed shots and turnovers turning into points at the other end. A dominant performance saw ELAC nearly double up the Griffins 77-39, setting up another shot at Palomar College tomorrow, the lone team the Huskies has lost to so far this season.
